I Think I Love My Wife

I Think I Love My WifeI Think I Love My Wife

I Think I Love My Wife is a great comedy starring Gina Torres, and Chris Rock.

If you remember from my Serenity review, I am a big fan of Gina Torres. You’ve seen her in Cleopatra 2525, Firefly, Serenity, and other works.

I Think I love My Wife is about a typical marriage with two young children. He has an office job and the story is focused on Chris’s character. The couple no longer has sex. In fact it seems to be without any physical affection. They argue some and they are stuck in a routine. They ALWAYS eat chicken for supper.

Their marriage seems to be a matter of who is to blame. One day he finds a hot woman he knew before and she does everything she can to spend time with him trying to seduce him. Eventually his wife (Gina) figures out something is wrong and confronts him. He eventually decides it isn’t worth it, and that he really does love his wife. We assume that they fix their past issues at this point.

It is however inappropriate for children. There is alot of talk about sex but you don’t see anything offensive. You do hear many bad words including the f-word and the b-word (which used to be considered offensive) Really, the words you hear aren’t any worse than most highschool students use when by themselves, so I’d say this movie is ok for 16+ unless you are Mormon. In that case this movie would be a bad choice.

The movie is great I give it a 5/5. (one point for Gina Torres)

Mission Impossible III

Mission Impossible III DVDMission Impossible III is a movie that is full of action. There are car chases, explosions, jumping from tall buildings, and self-electrocution. Of course we have Tom Cruise as a protagonist.

We discover in this movie that his character is recently married and he was asked to get involved in the kidnapping of a black marketer who is very powerful. Once they kidnap the bad guy, he is rescued and Tom’s character, Ethan, is forced to get for the bad guy the ‘rabbit foot’ which is just something in a bottle with a toxic symbol on it. Who set him up and why? Will his wife be ok?

I recommend this movie only for people who want to watch an action film and don’t care about the story. The movie stars well and the middle is good too, but the ending is a let down which leaves the viewer with more questions than answers. It was anti-climatic. I give it a 3/5 for great action and disappointing plot.

Finding Nemo

Collectors EditionNinding Nemo is one of my favorite Animated Movies because even though it is full of funny scenes, it actually teaches us cooperation, sharing, and dedication.

Finding Nemo is about Nemo’s life after he is captured by a scuba diver and put in a fish tank. His father, Marlin, goes in search of his son at great risk to his own life.

This movie is great for the entire family except for very young children who might find a few moments to be a little frightening unless they are used to watching Discovery channel.

Flushed Away

Flushed Away coverFlushed Away is a funny movie which is perfect for children however the story might be too simple for some adults to enjoy more than once. If you have children, then this movie would be great for your collection.

Flushed Away is about a pampered rat or mouse, Roddy St. James (it isn’t very clear since they are humanized) whose house is invaded by a crude working class rat who starts dirtying his place. When he tries to trick the rat to go rest in the jacuzzi (toilet) to flush him, he gets pushed in, and flushed away himself where he discovers an underground London full of people like him plus a few frogs.

He makes friends in an attempt to get home and discovers that he was lonely. Oh yeah, he also discovers an evil plan, etc. :-)

Corazón de Melón (A melon heart)

Corazón de Melón is a movie from Mexico. Mexico doesn’t produce many movies but there have been several good movies released in recent years.

Corazón de Melón is about Rosa, or Rosita, who is overweight and awkward. She loves to cook has family and a best friend, but she is lonely. She dreams about a television cook.

One day the ‘pretty’ girl mentions that she has a boyfriend and it is the same TV chef. She of course is very jealous and tries to catch his eye.

Then one day she gets her chance. He gets amnesia after falling off a horse and she spends time in the hospital and fools him into thinking that she was his girlfriend.

Find out what happens next in this great movie.

Open season

Open season (widescreen)Open season is a great movie. I have watched it on DVD many times. It is definitely for children, but if you are a child at heart you will love this story. Every time I watch it, I see another detail.

Open season is about a bear who was raised by a park ranger, and a deer that somehow survived being shot by a hunter. They have a crazy adventure which includes a showdown with the hunters. I highly recommend Open Season.
